The Big Bang Competition is free to enter and welcomes projects of all sizes. Whether you're new to STEM competitions or have entered before, it's easy to get involved.

The Big Bang Challenge provides free, step-by-step project guides that help students develop ideas, investigate real-world problems and build STEM projects with confidence.
Supporting teachers and students
The Big Bang Competition supports teachers as well as students throughout the project journey.
Every entrant receives feedback from STEM professionals, helping students reflect on their work, celebrate their achievements and identify areas for further development. This additional support can help reduce pressure on teachers, particularly when students are exploring topics outside their usual learning.
Taking part also helps students develop valuable skills including teamwork, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving. Alongside this, The Competition provides opportunities to celebrate achievement. raise the profile of STEM across the school and showcase innovative projects to peers, parents and industry professionals.
Teachers play an important role in shaping students' ideas and building confidence through STEM project work. By supporting students through The Competition, teachers can help inspire future scientists. technologists, engineers and mathematicians while enriching STEM learning across their school.
Celebrating great teaching
Students entering The Big Bang Competition can also nominate a teacher for an award, recognising the guidance, encouragement and support they received while developing their project.
Every year, I look forward to the time when the next Big Bang is announced and I start brainstorming ideas for projects that I could make and enter into the competition. My biggest science and engineering projects I have designed and made so far have both been for Big Bang competitions and I thoroughly enjoyed designing, building and writing up both of them. I loved the showcase last year where I had the privilege of being a finalist and was allowed to display my project at the Big Bang Fair.
