AI & Machine Learning Workshop
Your students will learn both physical computing and coding concepts and build, program and train a robot buggy with AI capabilities.

Overview
Introduce pupils to the future of computing with this hands-on artificial intelligence and machine learning workshop for years 5 to 6 (P6–P7).
Pupils explore physical computing, coding and real-world applications while discovering how traditional programming differs from machine learning. They learn how computers can learn from data rather than explicit instructions and explore neural networks as a key machine learning concept.
Through practical activities, pupils explore reinforcement learning, pattern recognition and image recognition. Pupils build and programme a robot buggy using BBC micro:bit and an AI-powered camera to recognise traffic signals.
They also explore the ethical implications of AI, considering safety and privacy when using this developing technology.
The workshop supports KS2 Computing and Science, developing pupils’ understanding of algorithms, data handling and emerging technologies.
Sessions are adapted for all learners, including those with SEN. Facilitators tailor activities to age and ability, ensuring every pupil is supported and engaged.
Workshop formats available:
Standard (2×2hr): Up to 60 students/day (working in pairs)
In-Depth (1×4hr): Up to 30 students/day

Testimonials

The overall experience was very enjoyable and the activity making the plane fly was challenging but fun. I really enjoyed learning about AI and how it will be used for future inventions. I liked how you could interact with quite complicated tech and the person taught us how to use it properly and safely. It was also quite interesting and the videos of the robots were really cool!
