Clifton Suspension Bridge & Museum

Spanning the scenic Avon Gorge 75 metres above the River Avon, the Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of the oldest surviving iron chain suspension bridges in the world. The first solo project of the innovative Franco-British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the bridge was described as 'the ornament of Bristol, and the wonder of the age'. Offering incredible views, tours exploring the turbulent history and remarkable engineering of the structure, the Clifton Suspension Bridge Museum is an unforgettable highlight of any trip to Bristol. The Clifton Suspension Bridge has been preserved and cared for solely by the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust since 1953.
