Engaging climate education
The Climate Schools Programme is designed to help secondary schools bring climate education into the classroom in an engaging, practical and manageable way. The curriculum-linked resources span English, science, and geography, giving you everything you need to deliver impactful lessons. Get lesson plans, activity plans, real job stories, curriculum alignments, and more. Students develop essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication – all vital for their future careers.
Plus, it’s flexible. Your school can choose to do one or 2 lessons within a subject, embed activities across multiple departments, or take a whole-school approach. Alongside classroom resources, it includes assemblies, tutor-time activities and Climate Action theme to support existing extra-curricular clubs or to help you set up a new Climate Action Club.
In English students learn about the language of climate change, and learn how to detect misinformation. In science students learn about the science behind the green energy revolution. Lessons in geography look at government targets for reaching net zero and how that might be achieved.
In each of these subjects the learning is underpinned with careers information to make links between what students learn at school and future careers they could go into.
The Climate Schools Programme is aimed at 11 to 14 year-olds in secondary schools in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The articles and resources were all accessible, and I was quite impressed that the students wanted to read them. They were interested in it, and they understand it’s their future, so it’s really important.
