Paul Barker

Founder,
Enter Engineering

Paul began his career as an engineering apprentice, working as a toolmaker for an aerospace company. After completing his apprenticeship, he decided to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering, which paved the way for a successful career as a design engineer for many years.    Transitioning into the field of education, Paul took on the role of a teacher and later advanced to become an educational manager, specialising in engineering and apprenticeships. His extensive experience in both industry and education led him to start his own recruitment company, where he now supports engineers in reaching their full potential, whether in industry roles or in educational settings.

Adam Foster

Learning, Development and Outreach Manager,
Lloyd Webber Theatres

Adam trained at the BRIT School in South London before studying theatre at university and master’s level.

He now works at one of the UK’s leading commercial theatre operators, helping young people understand careers beyond the stage and demystifying the process of pursuing them.

Jo Hartley-Metcalfe

Universities T Level Support Manager
UK Institute for Technical Skills and Strategy

Jo is an experienced educational professional with a strong background in post-16 technical education. As a former science teacher, examiner and educational author, she has a vast understanding of the post-16 educational landscape. 

She now works with the UK Institute for Technical Skills and Strategy, hosted by the University of Nottingham, as the Universities T Level Support Manager. Jo is passionate about promoting post-16 technical qualifications as a key pathway to technical careers, professional development and sustaining the technical workforce for Science and Engineering.

Rebecca Healy

Rebecca joined EngineeringUK in 2022 with a career history in Learning and Development roles in a range of industries. She diversified and began working in career development from 2019 with her most recent role having been Head of Careers for a Multi-Academy Trust. 

As Careers Inspiration Manager at EngineeringUK, Rebecca works a wide variety of stakeholders to develop careers resources to inspire young people from all backgrounds about careers in Engineering and Technology. 

Johnny Mathieson

Early Career Professional’s Manager,
Siemens

Johnny is an electrical engineer who has worked in apprenticeships for over 20 years, with a background in lecturing up to HND level in Engineering and Management.

He is responsible for the operational management of Siemens UK Digital Industries’ internal apprenticeship and graduate schemes. This involves overseeing the effective recruitment, training, development, performance management and offboarding processes. Johnny is also responsible for designing and managing the overall placement programme; ensuring that learners obtain a broad overview of the business and customer base.

Dr Khadijat Olorunlambe, CEng MIMechE MIET MWES

Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering,
University of Birmingham

Khadijat is an award-winning professional educator and researcher with a commitment to using digital engineering to solve complex medical challenges. She has a passion for engineering educational excellence and works as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. Her current research uses acoustic emission testing (sound waves) to better understand wear and tear in natural and artificial joints. This method has the potential to provide a more dynamic and intuitive way of diagnosing joint problems.

Khadijat is passionate about inspiring young people, particularly girls, to study engineering and acts as a STEM Ambassador in her free time. 

Sadie Peacock

Engineering Manager,
Renishaw plc

Sadie studied Physics BSc (Hons) at The University of Manchester. Since graduation, she has worked for precision measurement company Renishaw in their manufacturing division. Sadie is currently an Engineering Manager of a team that supports the assembly of precision products, resolving issues and implementing improvements to maintain supply of high-quality product to customers.

She has volunteered as a STEM ambassador since 2015 working to promote engineering and the importance of diversity to students from a range of backgrounds. 

Lisa Tomkins

Education Outreach Partner,
Met Office

Lisa has over 25 years’ experience in education delivery, spanning early years to postgraduate provision across local, regional and national programmes. As Education Outreach Lead, she works closely with staff across the organisation to showcase the wide range of job roles and career pathways within the Met Office to young people.

Having started out studying orangutans for 10 years, along the way Lisa has also taught Statistics and Psychology, headed up a sustainable energy department, managed business development for a software start-up, and worked as a freelance speaker and writer. Directly before joining the Met Office, she was an Operational Hub Lead at her local Careers Hub, working closely with the Careers & Enterprise Company.
