Overview
Science Creates Outreach offers hands-on, curriculum-linked STEM workshops inside The Learning Lab—a replica laboratory based within a Deep Tech incubator in central Bristol.
Workshops are designed for 6 to 30 students, and aim to increase science capital, build confidence, and contextualise classroom learning with real-world research careers.
What to expect:
- 2-hour workshops, Monday to Friday. Typically a morning and afternoon slot
- Curriculum-linked content with hands-on experiments
- Behind the scenes tour of a Deep Tech incubator
- Clear links to STEM careers and pathways, with exposure to STEM professionals (researchers, engineers, lab techs, etc.)
- Emphasis on diverse roles and routes into science
- Challenging stereotypes on what a STEM professional does and who they are
Accessibility:
- Ground-floor replica lab space, wheelchair accessible
- Workshop facilitators who are qualified teachers
- Strong experience supporting young people with SEND
- Adaptable activities and flexible delivery
- There is space for free minibus parking onsite, provided advanced notice is given
Cost: free, however the charity does accept donations (the booking form has an option for a suggested donation of £150 for a 2-hour workshop, and an option to donate £300 to 'pay it forward' for another group)
