Circuit Street
Circuit Street is an interactive workshop run by UK Power Networks, that showcases the journey of electricity.

Overview
Circuit Street is an in-school workshop run by UKPN employees, where up to 40 students will explore how electricity is distributed to power a town and what careers/jobs are available to keep the town running.
The facilitator will set challenges to be tackled individually or in teams, and students will use a STEM kit consisting of tiles that can be mixed and matched to create a unique town.
The aim is for students to complete the circuit to power up the town. They will be given instructions with intentionally in-built wiring faults, which they will need to find and fix after assembling.
There will be "special tiles" which will include houses, barriers, traffic lights and street lighting. There will also be a stadium, hospital, wind turbines and a solar farm.
The facilitator will also talk about their experience as an engineer and provide advice on career progression, both via apprenticeships and university routes.
The workshop fits in with the curriculum as it showcases circuits, renewable energy and the journey of electricity.
Details
The workshop is available across London, the South East and East of England and can be tailored to suit the needs of the school. It can take place over an hour, a half day or a full day.
