Overview

Bring healthcare careers to life with a practical workshop from Medical Mavericks.

Pupils get hands-on with real medical equipment and discover how science is used in healthcare. They could record ECGs, use ultrasound to find organs, test lung function and try keyhole-surgery simulators.

These activities introduce pupils to the wide range of people who work in healthcare. They can discover roles including radiography, paramedicine, biomedical science and physiotherapy.

By connecting classroom science with real jobs, the workshop helps pupils see how their learning can open up future possibilities. It also challenges familiar ideas about who works in healthcare and what those careers can look like.

The practical format gives pupils different ways to take part and demonstrate their skills. Activities can be adapted for physical or sensory needs, and Medical Mavericks can discuss requirements with teachers beforehand.
