New STEM careers pathways poster for the classroom

Date published: 28 April 2026

A quick, visual way to explain routes into engineering and technology

Teachers and Careers Leaders tell us that helping students understand where STEM can take them is important, but the routes into engineering and technology can feel complex. To make careers conversations easier and more inclusive, EUK Education has launched a new STEM careers pathways poster.

The poster is a clear, classroom‑friendly guide to the varied qualification routes, encouraging students to start thinking about the way they want to learn beyond school.

Engineering and technology is behind everything, from sport and gaming to clean energy, infrastructure and space. Around 19% of all UK jobs are in the sector and up to 725,000 additional roles needed to support the transition to net zero.

The free, downloadable poster is designed to help you show students that there’s more than one way into STEM careers. It challenges stereotypes that you need to have a degree for jobs in STEM and shows students that engineering and technology is for everyone. This resource provides a simple, visual overview of the range of different routes into STEM, raising awareness about where young people can choose to learn beyond school. It’s designed to broaden perceptions and to help every student see a next step, whether that’s an academic or technical learning pathway.

Educators can use the poster to:

  • support careers guidance conversations at KS3, KS4 and post‑16
  • prompt discussion during lessons, assemblies or careers events
  • help students explore where learning predominantly takes place for academic and technical pathways
  • reinforce inclusive messaging and link student careers motivations to help more students consider that STEM could be for them

Pathways at a glance*:

  • young people interested in an engineering career are more likely to prefer a technical route (36%) than an academic (university) route (28%)
  • 53% of STEM teachers feel confident advising students about technical pathways into engineering
  • 89% of STEM teachers in England are aware of T Levels, but only 11% say their school/college offers them
  • parents’ self‑reported knowledge is strongest for university (42% “know a lot”) and lowest for T Levels (5% “know a lot”)
