Over 20,000 students get ready to explore The Big Bang Fair 2026

In just 3 weeks’ time, more than 20,000 students from across the UK will attend The Big Bang Fair 2026, the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people.

Taking place from 9 to 11 June at the NEC Birmingham, The Fair brings together employers, educators and STEM professionals to provide meaningful, real-world engagement with STEM careers.

A hands-on approach to STEM careers

Designed for students in years 6 to 8 (or equivalent), The Big Bang Fair offers a wide range of hands-on activities to help bring STEM learning to life.

This year’s activities include robotics challenges, drone workshops, climate-focused escape rooms and interactive engineering experiences. Students will also have the opportunity to meet professionals from across industry, helping them to understand how STEM skills apply in the workplace.

Live stage shows will return, including a biomimicry show from ZooLab and a Flight to the Future show from the University of Wolverhampton.

Industry collaboration

The Fair is delivered in collaboration with a wide range of partners, including Rolls-Royce, AtkinsRéalis, easyJet, EDF Energy, Tech She Can, The Wildlife Trusts and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

These organisations play a key role in showcasing the breadth of opportunities available in STEM and providing students with access to relatable role models.

Lauren James, Education Outreach Manager at Rolls-Royce, said:
"By inspiring young people to explore STEM and future skills, we’re helping build the talent that will shape our future. When more young people see the possibilities in these fields, it doesn’t just benefit businesses like ours, it strengthens communities and helps tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges. That’s what excites me, and why we’re proud to be part of The Big Bang Fair."

Supporting progression into STEM

The Fair is part of a wider range of activities delivered by EUK Education, part of the charity EngineeringUK. Held annually, it sits within a broader programme designed to inspire and inform young people about careers in engineering and technology.

In 2025, 79% of students who attended said they felt more confident that they could pursue a career in STEM.

Phillip McShane, Associate Director of Engagement Projects at EngineeringUK, said:
“We have a really exciting line-up this year with a great range of organisations showcasing jobs from their sector. It’s a brilliant opportunity to get students out of the classroom and connecting with real-world STEM experiences and diverse role models. Our aim is for young people from all backgrounds to discover the magic of STEM and raise their aspirations for these careers.”

Celebrating student achievement

The Fair will also host The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition awards ceremony on 9 June, recognising exceptional student STEM projects from across the UK.
