Welsh skills and career pathways

Discover the skills and careers pathways available to students in Wales. For students working at Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3, in-school qualifications such as GCSEs, Engineering Learning Programme or WJEC Level 1 or 2 Vocational Award in engineering are a fantastic route into a future engineering or tech career.

Students undertaking AS and A levels could consider choosing to study engineering design, maths and/or physics. Young people can also consider foundation apprenticeships in engineering, IT, construction, built environment and manufacturing. Other types of apprenticeships, including advanced apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, combine workplace training with studying.

In higher education, university degree courses can offer more general engineering courses, or cover specific fields of engineering, computer science, manufacturing or technology.
