Your bursary can be used on any experience listed on Neon. This includes:

  • the direct cost of a Neon experience (for example paying for a workshop or competition entry fees)
  • transport to a Neon experience
  • teacher or technician cover costs
  • kit to enhance the Neon experience (including materials for projects or competitions)

The bursary aims to enable your school to take part in an experience listed on Neon in the 2025/26 academic year.

A key aim of our bursary schemes is to inspire all young people into STEM careers, not just those who already have a passion for science and engineering. Please ensure that all students are encouraged to participate, not just those already interested in engineering and technology or other STEM careers. We are particularly keen for schools to include the following groups (as we know these groups are underrepresented in engineering and technology):

  • girls (at least 50% or proportionate to your student population)
  • disabled young people and those with special educational needs
  • students from UK minority ethnic backgrounds, including in particular Black, Black British, Caribbean or African young people
  • those eligible for free school meals

EngineeringUK pays funds to your school after you deliver your experience, fill in our feedback survey, and share your invoice.

If payment after delivering the experience is a barrier to your school taking part in the scheme please email [email protected].

Please ask your colleagues in your school office, finance department or bursar to help you raise an invoice if you are unsure on how to raise an invoice.

You can see an example of an invoice here.

Please email your invoice to [email protected]

Address the invoice to:

Please inform us as soon as possible if you can no longer take part in the scheme. We have a limited number of bursaries to offer, so if you will not take part we can offer the bursary to another school.
