Inspire students to bring their ideas to life with The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition. Got a class who love solving problems? Enter a STEM project with your students. The Competition rewards and recognises young people’s bright ideas. From climate change to robots to life-saving healthcare, The Big Bang Competition celebrates projects of all shapes and sizes.
Free to enter for students aged 11 to 18 in state-funded secondary schools, The Big Bang Competition supports young people to ask questions, challenge facts and invent solutions. Entries are open! Enter by 4 March 2026.


Why take part
Take part and build students’ confidence, practice STEM skills and get expert feedback with the UK’s top science and engineering competition. Every student who enters The Competition gets personal feedback from a real STEM professional. They're encouraged to reflect on their new skills and see just how far they’ve come.
Who can take part
The Big Bang Competition is open to:
- young people aged 11 to 18 in state funded education
- young people who are home educated
- young people who enter as part of a community group
Joint entries from teams made up of an equal number of independent school/state school students are also eligible. When you enter, make sure the project entry is submitted via the state school.

Enter The Competition
The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition is free to enter. It's open to young people in the UK aged 11 to 18 in state-funded secondary education, who are home educated, or who enter as part of a community group.
Entries are open! Enter by 4 March 2026.
