Using collections
A career in engineering offers exciting opportunities! Engineers get to solve real-world problems, contribute to a better future and will play a key role in reaching net zero. Engineers are in high demand and well rewarded for their skills and knowledge.
Neon helps you inspire young people to enter those careers. While a single STEM outreach activity can be fun and inspiring, repeated interactions with STEM support a lasting impact on young people’s career aspirations. That’s why we believe in offering a sequence of connected activities and resources to deepen understanding and spark sustained interest in engineering.
Neon collections are designed to help you do exactly that! Take a look them on Neon and get a sneak peek below:
- Data science and technology collection - introduce your students to the exciting world of data science, computer science, and meteorology.
- Energy careers collection - inspire your class with the dynamic and impactful world of energy.
- Tech solutions to climate change collection - find out more about engineering and tech careers creating solutions to climate change
- Engineering for everyone collection - Introduce all students, especially girls, to engineering and technology careers.

So, we only feature experiences that meet our quality criteria:
- Include positive and contemporary messaging about engineering
Raise young peoples’ aspirations:- For primary: Broaden horizons, challenge career stereotypes, and put curriculum subjects into a real-life context
- For secondary: Include an explicit careers dimension and align with at least 2 Gatsby benchmarks
- Are designed and delivered so they are inclusive for students
- Are committed to embedding learning and improvements
- Clearly articulate expected learning outcomes
- Are transparent on cost and time
- Meet safeguarding, health and safety and data protection standards and have public liability insurance
- Support teachers in enabling young people to reflect on the content of the Neon experience they have taken part in after the activity.
Nowadays teachers have so much content to get through, time is sometimes an issue. However, the students who were involved in drone day will remember it for years, and they won’t remember every school day.
