About Climate Schools Programme

The curriculum-linked resources span English, science, and geography, giving you everything you need to deliver impactful lessons. Get lesson plans, activity plans, case studies, curriculum alignments, and more. Students develop essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication – all vital for their future careers.

Plus, it’s flexible. Your school can choose to do 1 or 2 lessons, or use the resources and activities with students across all subjects. We also offer Climate Action theme packs to support existing extra-curricular clubs or to help you set up a new Climate Action Club.

The Climate Schools Programme is designed to make the links between curriculum subjects and real world careers. It's aimed at 11 to 14 year-olds in state-funded secondary schools in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The lessons

Flexibility is at the core of the Climate Schools Programme, covering as it does 3 different subjects. Each subject can be taught in isolation, though there is obvious thematic benefit for a year group to cover the topic in different disciplines.

In English students learn about the language of climate change, and learn how to detect misinformation. In science students learn about the science behind the green energy revolution. Lessons in geography look at government targets for reaching net zero and how that might be achieved.

In each of these subjects the learning is underpined with careers information to make links between what students learn at school and future careers they could go into.
