Unthink this! New resource for National Careers Week

Date published: 03 March 2025

Get your students creative with engineering and technology

For National Careers Week (3 to 8 March), we have developed a resource celebrating the creative side of engineering and technology. Unthink this! get student creative through hands-on activities, idea generation and discussing interesting current topics – from sustainable fashion to travel.

Secondary school students in a classroom at a desk working. One writes as the others look on.

The free resource consists of 3 x 10 to 40-minute activities of varied intensity for teachers to pick from. You can choose to do one, 2 or all 3! The activities are followed by a short online quiz.

  • Unthink ideas: practise and develop your creative thinking skills through idea generation (10 to 30 minutes)
  • Unthink activity: practise and develop your creative solution skills through tweaking a design (40 minutes)
  • Unthink discussion: practise and develop your creative discussion skills through debating ideas (20 to 30 minutes per topic)
  • 5-minute online quiz that can be used as a starting point for a group discussion or as standalone

We have also pulled together a collection of careers themed activities on Neon to help you inspire and inform your students. From introducing younger learners to the exciting world of engineering and technology to guiding older students through the many career paths and entry routes.
