Our Climate Schools Programme, featuring climate change resources, has been given the seal of approval from the Royal Meteorological Society.
The resources have been given the Royal Meteorological Society quality mark, ‘Verified Climate Education Resource’.
This accreditation has been done by expert review by the Society to make sure the resources adhere to their strict quality control framework. This makes sure resources contain clear, up-to-date, reliable and reputable sources of information, as well as being safe from being misused out of context. Teacher support is also high on the factors for accreditation allowing them to increase their own knowledge and personal development whilst teaching this vital subject to young people effectively.
Kim Biddulph, Head of Engagement Programmes at EngineeringUK said, "As the leading independent expert in weather and climate, the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) has an important role to ensure that climate education is accurate and high quality, and we are delighted that the Climate Schools Programme has been successfully accredited."
The Climate Schools Programme teaches young people a solutions-based approach to climate change, with a particular focus on careers they could go into in the future to tackle the problem. This accreditation is in great support of this. With resources for English, science and geography lessons, the programme makes the connection between real life careers and what can be done to achieve net zero.
