Coming soon - a guide for Careers Leaders
By Rebecca Healy, STEM Inspiration Manager, EngineeringUK
EUK Education are pleased to support National Careers Week 2025, a one-week celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. Here, Rebecca Healy, EngineeringUK STEM Inspiration Manager talks about why STEM careers provision in schools is so important and gives a preview of the upcoming guide for Careers Leaders.

We recognise that careers provision in schools and colleges is an important, integral part of the education system. With the demand for skilled workers in the engineering and technology sector on the rise and growing faster than any other, it is vital that careers provision supports young people in making informed career choices.
I am very excited to share the news of a brand-new resource specifically for Careers Leaders due to launch in April 2025.
Coming soon! Advancing STEM careers provision in schools: a guide for Careers Leaders
This guide aims to support those responsible for careers programmes in schools to enable students from all backgrounds to view engineering and technology as an exciting, meaningful and accessible career option. It offers practical tips, grounded in the latest research, to help career leads bring to life the dynamic world of STEM.
Having a guide that acts as the latest digest of current research about what works to increase young people’s awareness and inspiration about STEM careers saves time and offers a really practical way through 'top tips’ and alignment with careers frameworks to take forward the recommendations into a careers programme at a whole school level.
During National Careers Week there is plenty that EUK Education offer to support you in bringing STEM to life. With over 35 free high-quality downloadable resources designed for use with young people by industry and careers experts, pick and choose which you will be able to use to support linking curriculum learning to careers. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Engineer your future (presentation) – assembly, tutor time, lesson
- What is engineering (leaflet) – lesson, parents/carers newsletter, homework, tutor time reading
- Engineer and technician profiles (short videos) – lesson, tutor time, homework
- Meet the future you (quiz) – careers Fair, drop down day, careers lesson following Engineer your future
Developing excitement about careers choices and equipping young people with the information to navigate these is key to helping young people perceive engineering and technology as viable and meaningful career pathways. Exploring different careers through passions, interests, skills and school subjects can take place at home and in other settings, beyond the school. My world, my future - a free, downloadable leaflet – lists podcasts, days out, activities, competitions, books and other ways that young people can further their interest in STEM. Share this with students and their parents/carers.
