Helping your students shape their future in Scotland
10 to 14 November 2025
Scottish Careers Week is a chance to inspire your class, connect with local employers and explore career paths in Scotland. Run by Skills Development Scotland, the careers team in every state secondary school in Scotland is on hand to help plan impactful, student focused events. From career fairs and work placements to engagement sessions with parents, there are many ways to get involved in the week.

Things to think about:
- Scotland currently makes up 8% of the UK’s engineering and technology workforce and is only set to grow
- jobs in environment, energy and earth sciences are widely available
- young people aged 16 and over can consider Modern Apprenticeship SQV 3 and Scottish Vocational Qualifications in engineering and technology sectors
- Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas are available in engineering and technology-based subjects
- university degree courses in Scotland offer more general engineering courses as well as covering specific fields such as computer science, manufacturing and technology
