There are many different routes into engineering and technology roles, but there are some key STEM subjects that set young people up well to follow this career path.
This dashboard covers 2025's uptake of key subjects across GCSEs, National 5s, A levels and Highers. It also looks at key engineering and technology take up across T Levels, apprenticeships and universities.
Girls are underrepresented in all key subjects and pathways into engineering and tech. So we've included the gender breakdown across these different pathways.
